COUNTY RESERVE TEAMS

COMPETITIONS 26 (Rifle) AND 27 (Pistol) - THE ROVING TROPHIES

Leslie Williams  11th May 2008

A hot morning with a very light breeze that did not disturb the wind flag but sometimes had devastating results.  In general a morning for good scores - 21 scores of 44 or better, which made for a tight competition.  Hard luck if you got caught out by the gusts, well done to those who did not.  Congratulation to David on winning

200yd metric
The afternoon was even hotter than the morning, with a spasmodic wind that gusted enough to almost take you off the target if careless.  Never the less, with a fine 94 Mike Mercer retained the Trophy by two points,

Very many thanks to John Green for running the butts to Mike Mercer for spelling me on the firing point, providing these results. Thank you all for coming again after the last two soggy years, I hope you enjoyed the day and even more I hope to see you on May10th  2009.

Roving Trophies

Some may not be familiar with these competitions considering that they have remained somewhat dormant for the past couple of seasons, but  be aware that Trophies do exist and the guidelines for the competitions remain in the Competitions Handbook.  Basically, any affiliated club may challenge the Holder(s) to a match on a shoulder-to-shoulder basis under conditions mutually agreed in advance, on either Club's range.  The object is to encourage 'live' competitions between Clubs within the County and there are no set rules for matches.  For example, the match may be on a 'name-your-own-start', 'highest score wins' or 'handicap' basis.  Any reasonable competition agreed mutually in advance between the Holders and the Challengers, so that there are no 'surprises' on the night, will be acceptable.   No entry fees are payable to the SCSBRA.

The Current Holders are:             RIFLE: Chobham,              PISTOL: 32nd/61st Surrey Home Guard

REMINDER

'Pricing in Proportion (size, thickness and weight) affects the cost of sending cards to scorers.  If you do not attach the correct postage when sending  your league cards, don't expect the scorer to make the trip to the sorting office and pay the penalty charge to retrieve them.  An 'NCR' is the likely result, which would be a waste of your, (or your team's), time effort and ammunition in shooting the cards in the first place!

Royal Mail also suggest that you put senders address on envelopes otherwise they are destroyed if for any reason they are not delivered .
